چکیده

The potential of heavy quarks as probes of the environment produced in hadronic and heavy-ion reactions is discussed. A key role is played by coalescence processes and/or resonance formation which are promising candidates to provide a comprehensive understanding of phenomena associated with reinteractions of both open and hidden heavy-quark states. Thermalization of Heavy Quarks in the QGP

Recent experimental results on the transverse-momentum spectra (pT spectra) and the elliptic flow, v2, of non-photonic single electrons [K +04, L+04], whose main source at pT & 2GeV/c is the semileptonic decay of open-charm (and bottom) mesons, indicate that D mesons may have about the same v2 as light mesons. Calculations within a quark-coalescence model [GKR04] show that this can be explained...

Heavy-quark probes of the quark-gluon plasma and interpretation of recent data taken at the BNL Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider

Thermalization and collective flow of charm (c) and bottom (b) quarks in ultrarelativistic heavy-ion collisions are evaluated based on elastic parton rescattering in an expanding quark-gluon plasma (QGP). We show that resonant interactions in a strongly interacting QGP (sQGP), as well as parton coalescence, can play an essential role in the interpretation of recent data from the BNL Relativisti...

Heavy-Quark Spectra at RHIC and Resonances in the QGP

Thermalization and collective flow of charm (c) and bottom (b) quarks are evaluated from elastic parton scattering via “D”and “B”-meson resonances in an expanding, strongly interacting quark-gluon plasma at RHIC. Pertinent drag and diffusion coefficients are implemented into a relativistic Langevin simulation to compute transverse-momentum spectra and azimuthal flow asymmetries (v2) of cand b-q...

T-matrix approach to heavy quark diffusion in the QGP

We assess transport properties of heavy quarks in the Quark-Gluon Plasma (QGP) using static heavy-quark (HQ) potentials from lattice-QCD calculations in a Brueckner many-body T -matrix approach to evaluate elastic heavy-quark-light-quark scattering amplitudes. In the attractive meson and diquark channels resonance states are formed for temperatures up to ∼1.5Tc, increasing pertinent drag and di...
